WSTU Councils--Who we variously are

Elmhurst PSRP council is a proud member of the Elmhurst Community School District 205 family. We are a dedicated group of hard-working men and women that help to support the needs of over 8,000 students who reside primarily in Elmhurst and a small portion of Bensenville, Addison, and Oak Brook. It is our honor to work alongside approximately 725 teaching professionals to create a solid foundation of learning and respect for our students to build on.

Our council is unique in that most of our members reside in the community. As community members, we understand the importance of showing every day and giving it your ALL! Our Council goal is to be student and community-focused as we continue to aid in the district's initiative of “Moving Forward Together”!


District 96 is an award-winning elementary school district serving students in pre-K through eighth grade in four elementary schools and one junior high school. Our mission is to provide for each student a challenging education that promotes academic excellence, encourages creativity, develops critical thinking, and fosters respect for self, community, and the environment. 

The Riverside Education Council (REC) of Riverside School District 96 consists of nearly 200 highly-qualified classroom teachers, reading and math specialists, psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers, instructional coaches, librarians, paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers, and secretaries. The REC represents all of these hard working professionals in Union to set forth, bargain, and defend a fair contract and to promote just working conditions for all members. We believe this support of our members allow for better support of the students we serve and to make the biggest impact on their lives.


Rosemont Elementary School District 78 contains a single grammar school that serves approximately two hundred preschool through eighth grade students.  Serving these students are approximately thirty teachers, one social worker, one speech pathologist, reading specialists, a librarian, and one school nurse. The Rosemont Professional Association represents all of these committed professionals that strive to enhance the quality of education for their students.

District 78 is a successful school district because of the support of the community, the positive working relationships between school board members, administration, and the dedicated and professional staff and faculty. As a proud affiliate of the West Suburban Teachers Union, Local 571, and the IFT/AFT, the Union gives us a voice in our working conditions, our ability to bargain collectively, and defend the legal rights of our members. We continue to look forward in assisting in the support of all our members and our students in the future.


Franklin Park School District 84 contains one middle school and three elementary schools.  Serving the approximately 1,300 students in these schools are about 115 teachers, reading and math specialists, speech pathologists, social workers, and instructional coaches.  The Franklin Park Teachers’ Council serves these dedicated educators in our efforts to provide our students with exceptional physical, emotional, social, and academic instruction.

District 84’s mission is to provide all our children a quality education within a safe and nurturing environment that motivates them to be lifelong learners and morally responsible citizens. The Franklin Park Teachers' Council provides the support needed for that success.  As a proud affiliate of the West Suburban Teachers Union Local 571, the Illinois Federation of Teachers, and the American Federation of Teachers, the Union gives us a voice  that’s over 1.7 million members strong. With this voice, we are able to provide the best possible learning environment for the students in District 84. 


Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 contains one high school, three middle schools, eight elementary schools, one transition center, and one early childhood center.  Serving the students in these schools are approximately 725 teachers, reading specialists, counselors, psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers, instructional coaches, and librarians. The Elmhurst Teachers’ Council represents all of these dedicated professionals in our efforts to improve the lives of our students.

District 205 is a successful school system because of the energy, talent and professionalism of our members.  The Elmhurst Teachers' Council provides the foundation for that success.  As a proud affiliate of the West Suburban Teachers Union, Local 571, IFT/AFT, the Union gives us a voice in our working conditions and professional development and provides the infrastructure and expertise necessary to bargain collectively and defend the legal and contractual rights of our members.  In solidarity, we look forward to the opportunity to support our members as our members support the students of District 205.



Summit School District 104 consists of four elementary schools and one middle school. Walker Elementary and Walsh Elementary are K-4th grade schools.  Wharton Elementary is our 5th grade center. Our Pre-K center is housed at Graves Elementary.  Graves is our Dual Language K-4th grade school. 

However, our two-way immersion program includes Pre-K through 8th Grade.  Heritage Middle School is where all our 6-8th graders are prepared for their transition into High School.  The program of studies in all schools include a state-of-the-art STEAM lab,literature, math, science, social studies, music, art, P.E, and more.  Our curriculum is designed, as stated by our vision statement, to create a culture of collaboration and caring to empower and inspire students to achieve their dreams and maximize their full potential.  The Summit-Argo Council of Teachers has over 150 members consisting of educators, nurses, counselors, social workers, speech pathologists and instructional coaches.  We are a group of dedicated professionals and proud members of the West Suburban Teachers Union, Local 571, of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO.


Bloomingdale School District 13 consists of two elementary schools and one middle school. Serving the students in these schools are approximately 110 teachers, reading specialists, counselors, psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers, instructional coaches, and librarians. The Bloomingdale Council of Teachers represents all of these dedicated professionals in our efforts to improve the lives of our students.

Bloomingdale District 13 is a successful school system because of the talent and professionalism of our members. The Bloomingdale Council of Teachers provides the foundation for that success. As a proud affiliate of the West Suburban Teachers Union, Local 571, IFT/AFT, the Union gives us a voice in our working conditions and professional development and provides the foundation necessary to bargain collectively and defend the contractual rights of our members.  In solidarity, we look forward to the opportunity to support our members as our members support the students of Bloomingdale District 13.
